Person #2: Decedent
Mark Franklin
No address (Deceased)
Complainant reported results of investigation by deceased brother, a newspaper reporter. (An apparent suicide reported in APD case #00-0919, title: Death/suspicious circumstances. NB, RO was first officer on scene.) Complainant reports he was examining the decedent's computer "wrapping up his affairs." In the process, he found an e-mail folder containing correspondence regarding a suicide the decedent had reported in the Aberdeen Post-Ledger on November 2 1999. (APD case #99-0870) The folder contained ongoing correspondence with decedent's editor and one other anonymous correspondent.
Complainant printed all relevant e-mails (manila folder is attached, EID #00-04532) Also contained in the folder are a clipping of the original story, a postcard - apparently from the same anonymous correspondent - and a letter received the day after decedent was found dead. The letter contained four enclosures: a second handwritten letter and three newspaper clippings.
Complainant reports that the enclosures appear to confirm the trail of fact in the decedent's investigation.
Will pass along to detective division for further investigation.
