As you peruse the plays, you'll periodically see a button (at left) that indicates that an audio clip is available for the adjacent text. Click on the button to hear an actor read the text. The audio clips on this site require the latest version of RealPlayer (available at Real.com).

As this feature of the site grows, there will be dozens of audio clips of talented (although not necessarily famous, so don't get excited) actors reading from the plays. It is my belief that one of the best ways to gain understanding and appreciation of Shakespeare is to see them performed or at least hear the words. Ultimately you should be able to hear most of the "famous" monologues. In fact I hope to be able to present multiple actors doing different interpretations when possible and appropriate.
